When it comes to Bethesda games the first thing that comes to mind is open world; the second thing that comes to mind is immersion. When Starfield was introduced back in 2018 at E3; we as gamers didn't really have much to go on, other than it just space game. Now let’s fast forward to June 11th when Xbox had its showcase and BGS had Starfield direct most gamers were pretty much glued to the streaming devices to see what Starfield is about. The game play of Starfield for 45 minutes had a lot of gamers excited for the game. With months leading up to Starfield release the game was the talk around social media, gaming stores, and gamers alike hardcore and causal gamers. On thing is for sure this game has kept me in AWE.

From the moment the game fades into your character you do feel a sense of wonder, and curiosity. However, I would say the moment that I started I not only looked around but explored a little bit. Once I explored, I did carry on with the mission; and once the mission was over (sort of) that is when I went into character creation mode. This mode I spent well over 5 hours creating, debating on what kind of character I wanted to be; once that was finished then there was a gun fight to get use to the controls and a dog fight in space. I would have to say once that was over with my mind went to the words of what Zachary Wilson said “We are giving you a massive playground and a ton of toys, and just setting you free” – Starfield Direct, June 11th, 2023.
Those words are totally true when playing Starfield; after the introduction the world opens to you; you can go anywhere, do anything at any time. I would say when I was doing the main story line it was very hard for me to focus, there were times when a mission would tell me to go to a different planet and look for something; however, in the mist of looking for something I come across an abandoned mine, where the enemy was ready for a fight. Often, I would just wonder to collect materials for my outpost, scan to survey the land, or just stand my ground against dangerous wildlife on the planet. There are times when I am thinking I am doing the story mission that I get caught off guard doing a completely different mission all together.
The hours I put into this game up to 80+ and I’m still finding things to explore, new missions to check out; and please do not get me started in ship building which I spend a portion of my time in to make sure ship has a good shield, plenty of cargo and much more. Starfield is not a game where you can pick up for 30 minutes and play; I can assure you that 30 minutes can easily turn into 3 hours. Even though I have encountered a few bugs where once I blew up the place and a notebook was still spinning; even things like that never detoured me from playing and enjoying this masterpiece. Bethesda took their time with Starfield, and it shows, and coming from a gamer like me that can be very critical in just about every game I play; this game has very well exceeded my expectations in many ways. With that, The Koffee Table proudly gives the game Starfield a 9.6 out of 10.
